Big Story of the week

AI has its own Moore’s Law

What?

Did you know that the smartphone in your hand is many times more powerful than the computer that put Man on the moon in 1969? How come you have more computing power in your palm than a 1980s supercomputer? In the computer chip industry this is explained by Moore's Law
AI has its own Moore's Law now if a new research paper is to be believed . It claims that the length of tasks AI can complete is doubling every 7 months Todays AI Models can complete a task that takes One hour for a skilled human to complete.
By Next year they will be able to do what takes 8 hours for a human. By 2027 2-3 days projects. By 2028 A two week worth of work (used a common project sprint duration in Tech world).By 2029 Month long tasks, and by 2030 almost a year worth of tasks.

Why does it matter?

The proposed predictability provides and important tool for the AI industry to benchmark and forecast. Barring any computation and algorithm roadblocks (and we are skeptics here) this has serious implications for the future. This indicates that while AI Models and robots of may not take our jobs today, they will soon be able to match and beat us at the our work.
